Microbial Content Generation for Natural Terrains in Computer Games

چکیده

Procedural content generation (PCG) has been applied since several decades to fulfill various game-related design needs. Besides bio-inspired methods, living (non-human) organisms were used in computer games for purposes, such as behavior generation, data gathering, and player education. No the of virtual terrains games. Such an approach terrain could benefit from morphological similarity between natural colonies microbial organisms, real-time development over time, educational opportunities. We successfully executed experiment which we growing bacterial fungal cultures generating naturally appearing real-time. Concludingly, confirm feasibility using non-behavioral PCG reflect on its potential impact.

Automatic Generation of Dungeons for Computer Games

The genre of dungeon games, or first-person shooter games as they are more commonly known, has emerged over the last ten years to become one of the most popular types of computer game. At present, the levels in this type of game are generated manually, which is a very expensive and time-consuming process for games companies. If levels could be generated automatically then this would not only re...

Adaptive Music Generation for Computer Games

This dissertation explores a novel approach to gamemusic that addresses the limitations of conventional gamemusic systems in supporting a dynamically changing narrative. In the proposed approach, the music is generated automatically based on a set of variable input parameters corresponding to emotional musical features. These are then tied to narrative parameters in the game, so that the featur...

Biological Content Generation: Evolving Game Terrains Through Living Organisms

This study explores the concept of evolving game terrains through intermediation of living biological organisms and presents a proof of concept realization thereof. We explore how fungal and bacterial cultures can be used to generate an evolving game terrain in real-time. By visually capturing growing cultures inside a Petri-dish, heightmaps are generated that form the basis of naturally evolvi...

Guest Editorial: Procedural Content Generation in Games

C REATING games is in essence a nontechnical task and, accordingly, creating computer games involves much more than just programming. First, there needs to be a game design. And then, depending on the game genre, there needs to be character models, maps, levels, boards, racing tracks, trees, rocks, weapons, textures, sound effects, quests, clouds, and so on. In many contemporary game production...

Code Generation for AI Scripting in Computer Role-Playing Games

Scripting custom content for computer role-playing games requires the designer to tell a story by writing small fragments of computer code distributed among the characters, props, and locations of the game world. The main challenge of these games is to create believable motivations and behaviors for the dozens or even hundreds of characters and rooms with which the player may interact. We prese...
